Who We Are
The African American Cultural Center of Long Beach (AACCLB) is more than a cultural institution we are a gathering place where history comes alive, creativity flourishes, and community connections grow stronger.
Founded to preserve, honor, and celebrate the rich heritage and enduring contributions of African Americans, AACCLB provides a welcoming space where people of all ages and backgrounds can learn, reflect, create, and belong. Through thought-provoking exhibitions, youth education, our signature West African Drum and Dance classes, workshops, Kwanzaa cultural celebrations, performing arts, and community conversations, we bring stories to the forefront that have too often been overlooked or left untold.
Our programs connect generations. They give young people the opportunity to see themselves reflected in history, provide artists and cultural practitioners with platforms to share their talents, and invite the entire Long Beach community to experience the beauty, resilience, innovation, and influence of African American culture.
As we grow, our vision is to expand access to transformative cultural experiences, strengthen partnerships with LBUSD schools and community organizations, support local artists, and create even more opportunities for learning and connection.
Your Long Beach Gives donation helps make this work possible. Every gift, at every level, is an investment in preserving our shared history, uplifting today’s voices, and inspiring tomorrow’s leaders. You can also help us reach our goal in raising the necessary funds by becoming an AACCLB member.
Together, we are building a future in which African American history and culture remain visible, valued, vibrant, and accessible for generations to come.
