The Mayor’s Fund is a nonprofit focused on expanding opportunities for Long Beach children, youth, and families. Founded in 2015, our work has evolved alongside the needs of the community—listening to families, identifying gaps in services and resources, and bringing partners across sectors together to turn shared priorities into practical solutions.
We often sit in the in-between: connecting families, community organizations, educators, public agencies, funders, and service providers that may be working toward the same goals but do not always have an easy way to work together. By serving as a connector and convener, we help strengthen existing resources, build new partnerships, and make support easier for Long Beach families to find and navigate.
That approach led to the creation of the Long Beach Early Learning Hub ("The Hub"), developed in partnership with the Long Beach Early Childhood Education Committee, LBUSD, and the Hub Advisory Committee. What began as a trusted, multilingual place for families to find child care, apply for tuition assistance, and access early learning resources is continuing to grow in response to what families tell us they need. Today, we are building on that foundation to better connect families with food access, mental health services, and other essential supports.
Our work also extends beyond The Hub through initiatives like ReadyRosie, the Food Equity Roundtable, tuition assistance, community outreach, and cross-sector partnerships that strengthen the systems families rely on. Across everything we do, our role remains the same: listen, connect, and help turn community needs into coordinated action so more Long Beach children and families have the opportunity to thrive.
