With over 90 years of service to our community, the Junior League of Long Beach (JLLB) has been the driving force behind many initiatives and institutions making Long Beach a healthier, more vibrant place to live. Empowering our members through leadership and professional development training; JLLB has developed, supported, and launched more than 60 projects into the Long Beach community making a measurable, positive impact on the welfare of children and families in our community.

Our current programming includes Especially Me!, a free one-day, interactive class targeting at-risk, pre-teen girls, teaching them skills for positive self-esteem, self-empowerment, and decision-making. Through referrals from counselors within the Long Beach Unified School District, trained JLLB volunteers lead group activities and discussion designed to build confidence and promote self-esteem. Many parents of participants report their daughters have a more positive attitude and better communication regarding feelings and peer interactions, as a result of the program.

For nearly two decades, JLLB has aligned with community partners to create various Kids in the Kitchen activities to educate children on the importance of health-centered lifestyle choices. We believe in empowering children (and families) to more effectively fight against the childhood obesity epidemic.

JLLB aids in providing an elevated quality of life for the women, children, and families of our community.
