APLA Health & Wellness

For over 40 years, APLA Health has been a lifeline for LA's most vulnerable communities. Since 1983, we've grown from a grassroots HIV advocacy organization into a comprehensive health system — now serving 22,000 patients and clients annually across 16 service sites throughout LA County, regardless of HIV status or income.

Our integrated model delivers medical, dental, and mental health under one roof, removing the barriers that keep underserved Angelenos from care. For people with HIV (PWH), our reach goes further: the Vance North Necessities of Life Program is the largest food bank network for PWH in the country; Alliance for Housing & Healing is LA County's largest housing support provider for PWH; and HIV(E) serves older adults living with HIV.

HIVE

HIVE was created to improve health and well-being for people with HIV 50 years and older. HIVE promotes healthier, active living by addressing stigma, social isolation, social support, connection, and empowerment in older adults with HIV. Over 500 seniors currently utilize at least one of HIVE's essential supports.

HIVE clients can participate in a wide variety of older adult-focused programming virtually, and in person, across LA County:

Discussion Groups

Life Skills Support

Health Education

Community Building

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

Positive Self-Management

Donations will support these activities, from cognitive workshops to fun group outings like bingo and trivia nights, hikes, movies, bowling, and more!

In addition to HIVE's social connection and wellness support, clients can also access APLA Health's other services: comprehensive health care, food access, transportation aid, benefits navigation, and housing assistance.

We are grateful for the dedication and compassion of our donors who allow us to continue delivering these important supports to the older adults in Long Beach, and LA County broadly.
