Care Closet LBC

Care Closet sees the homeless for what they are, fellow humans for which we are responsible. Speaking directly to individuals living on the streets, Understanding that the disenfranchisement of the houseless from residents created a schism wherein the residents no longer saw the homeless as community members. When asked what the hardest experience of living on the street was, the surprising answer was "loneliness" and "lack of purpose." Givens consulted with homeless community members, listened to their concerns while explaining the concerns of the residents. An agreement was reached whereby the "street people" would clean up the encampments in exchange for warm clothing, food, and sleeping bags. Care Closet was born.
