Hoops After Dark is a community-based initiative under California Youth Empowerment Services (CalYES), dedicated to keeping Long Beach youth safe, inspired, and connected. Our program uses the power of basketball, mentorship, and education to create positive alternatives away from violence while building pathways for personal growth.
Since our founding, we’ve worked to prevent violence, provide safe spaces, and strengthen community ties. Through late-night basketball leagues, youth empowerment workshops, and our new Safe Passage Program, we engage young people in opportunities that promote leadership, nonviolence, and social connectedness.
Hoops After Dark is more than just a game—it’s a movement to empower youth to rise above challenges, discover their potential, and contribute positively to their community.
