About: Founded in 1906, Children’s Institute, Inc. (CII) is one of Southern California’s most impactful multi-service organizations. We seek to end cycles of intergenerational poverty and trauma by helping our community discover strengths and develop skills that create enduring success, and by creating community conditions that support equity. Currently, we impact 30,000 children and families each year across Metro Los Angeles, South Los Angeles, and Long Beach.
Campaign Goal: This is CII's second year participating in Long Beach Gives, and we aim to raise $2,000 to replenish the limited "Relief Funds for Families" to support families in crises. Families that we have supported in the past have benefited from this funding and have come from various programs in crisis situations such as unexpected death, eviction, job loss, and so forth. The purpose of this fund is to help families during a period of significant disruption or crisis and it is intended as “bridge” support that is limited in level and duration, but that will assist the family to resolve the crisis.
These funds have brought relief and have built capacity for families during a vulnerable time in their lives.
Children’s Institute believes that all children and families have boundless potential to achieve emotional well-being and educational success, which build pathways to lifelong health and economic mobility.
CII offers education, counseling, concrete support, convening spaces, and enrichment programs in the community and at its early education centers, K-12 community schools, and neighborhood hubs.
We develop resources and partnerships to help children, youth, families, and neighbors achieve their dreams and goals.
