Ground Education helps make nature part of the school day for thousands of Long Beach students.  Our team facilitates a year-round, awarding winning nature program via on-campus garden learning. Our passionate education staff creates and imparts hands-on lessons appropriate for each grade level, TK-5. Kids get their hands dirty while learning in and about nature while at the same time learning math, science, history, nutrition and more. It's been proven that nature and gardens can reduce stress and anxiety and promote a collaborative, calm environment for learning.

We have a list of elementary schools anxiously awaiting a garden program - our goal is to bring our outdoor education program to 6 new schools by June, 2025. Please help us expand our nature-centered program so Long Beach schools and students can thrive.

Testimonials

"I love the garden because I get to plant and learn about new things and eat."
~ Milan, Student

"All of the lessons are so much fun because they are hands-on and informative. My kids always walk away from garden excited about what they have learned or experienced."
~ Teacher, Webster Elementary

"For the past 4 years Edison has been fortunate to have Ground Education as a working partner with our garden program. Our students and teachers from K-5 look forward to visiting the garden and learning alongside each other about the amazing world of science. All our students are encouraged to explore, experiment, and think critically about the natural world. We look forward to many more years of partnership with Ground Education."
~ Juan Gutierrez, Principal of Edison Elementary

"We appreciate everything the Ground Education has taught our kids, from the lifecycle of a plant to how to make strawberry jam! Every kid should have the opportunity to get out of the classroom and learn about nature."
~Mieke and Tom Dumont, Parents
