WHERE HEALTH MEETS HEALING
When someone is already facing the hardest moments of their life, getting healthcare shouldn’t be another obstacle.
A survivor shouldn’t have to choose between feeling safe and seeing a doctor. A parent shouldn’t have to put off counseling because transportation is impossible. Someone rebuilding their life shouldn’t go without healthcare because they’re afraid they’ll be judged when they walk through the door.
At Healing To You, we believe care should meet people where they are—with dignity, compassion, and an understanding of what they may have already survived.
That’s why we provide trauma-informed medical and mental health care in our Wilmington Comprehensive Community Clinic, through telehealth, and aboard our mobile health clinics. We reach adults, children, and families who may otherwise go without care because of cost, transportation, safety concerns, trauma, or other barriers.
And in Long Beach, we’re building on that commitment in new ways.
In partnership with the City of Long Beach and YWCA Greater Los Angeles, our Mobile Healthcare Program serves women impacted by the justice system—many of whom have also experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, and other trauma.
Our team is prepared to meet that complexity. Every member completes 40 hours of domestic violence training and 40 hours of sexual assault training, so the person providing care understands that how someone is treated matters just as much as getting them through the door.
Now, We’re Opening a New Pathway for Sexual Assault Survivors
After a sexual assault, a survivor may be left asking questions no one should have to figure out alone:
Where do I go?
Do I have to go to a hospital?
What if I don’t want to involve the police?
Can I still get medical care?
What happens after the exam?
Too often, the path to care is confusing, fragmented, or simply too difficult to navigate.
We’re working to change that.
Healing To You is developing a first-of-its-kind Mobile Sexual Assault Response Team (mSART) for Los Angeles County, and we are bringing this new model of care to Long Beach.
In partnership with YWCA Greater Los Angeles, our mobile medical clinic will come directly to its Long Beach Rape Crisis Center, creating another way for survivors to access specialized healthcare after sexual assault—including rape kit exams—in a place where they are already connected to support.
Survivors will be able to receive specialized medical care, follow-up healthcare, mental health services, advocacy, and care coordination. This pathway is available to survivors whether or not they choose to make a report to law enforcement.
It means a survivor doesn’t have to be left alone to figure out what comes next.
Healthcare and advocacy can meet them in one trusted place. Follow-up care can continue after the exam. Mental health support can be there when they are ready.
That is what changing access to healthcare looks like.
And this Long Beach Gives, you can be part of it.
Your donation helps us bring care closer, remove barriers, and create more choices for survivors and others in our community who might otherwise go without the healthcare they need.
Help us change how people access healthcare in Long Beach.
