Thank you for visiting Koinonia's (Koy-no-nee’-ahz) Long Beach Gives landing page. Koinonia is a Greek word which means “fellowship.” It carries with it the meaning of a committed, trustworthy and dependable relationship. We have had the honor of delivering foster family services since 1982. As our organization grew, we began to recognize the need for additional therapeutic services. In response to that need, our agency began by developing our Homes for Teens Program. Over the years Koinonia has expanded its array of services to include: a unique and highly successful Crisis Resolution Center; Day Treatment programs; mental health and behavioral health services; adoption services; emergency shelter care; and Resource Family recruitment, training and family evaluations. 

Our programs and services are specifically designed to address the special challenges faced by today’s children and families. Our commitment to our resource parents is to support them in nurturing every aspect of the child’s emotional, mental, spiritual and physical health. We distinguish ourselves from other agencies by our commitment to quality, our compassion for children and a program that has family-centered values. Today, Koinonia has grown to become a leader in providing services to families and agencies within our community. Thousands of children have found hope, a foundation to succeed, a safe and secure environment, and a forever family.
