Help Us Rebuild Long Beach Pride

Three people started this. Judy Doyle, Marilyn Barlow, and Bob Crow, in the early eighties, when putting your name on something like this cost you something real.

Forty-three years later, we're building the next chapter.

We've brought on new leaders, such as new acting President, Jacque Ware, and new members. And we've rewritten our bylaws, how decisions get made, who has a seat at the table, and what we hold ourselves to.

That work is finished. It's the foundation everything else stands on.

We've also been listening. Real conversations with people across this community about what Pride should be and who it needs to serve. What we heard is now the plan.

Here's what your donation pays for right now:

• Information and resources that support the betterment of our community.
• Movie nights where people come out, sit together, and remember they're not alone.
• Thanksgiving dinners for folks who'd otherwise spend the day without one.
• Holiday gifts for at-risk teens: because a kid who's been forgotten before should get to be remembered this year.
• Job fairs that connect people in our community to real work and real resources.
• And the 2027 Festival: the planning, the permits, the deposits, the groundwork it takes to give Long Beach its celebration back.

That last one is the long game, and it's the most expensive one. Festivals get built months well in advance or they don't get built. Every dollar that comes in now is a dollar already working on 2027.

Somewhere out there is a kid who's never seen anyone like themselves out in the open. In 2027, we want them standing on Ocean Boulevard watching someone wave from a float. That's what we're raising money to build back.

None of this runs on anything but volunteer hours and donations. No one here is getting paid to care about this.
