FRAMEWORK OF SUPPORT
We provide a framework of support for social enterprises, artists, Makers and people with ideas. We help individuals get started along their path by including their goals in ours. We are working to create two apprenticeships in 2025. #1/ Makerspace Coach and #2/ International Event Manager. Our apprenticeships will provide us with a way to train youth in STEAM education and support for artists, and create events to bring individuals to Long Beach.
We have two feeder volunteer programs for those apprenticeships. International Friendship Ambassador and Makerspace Ambassador.
The International Friendship Ambassador certificate program advances diplomacy, introduces youth in high school and college to local, regional, national and international diplomats, prepares them for work through actual projects they lead as project managers for social enterprise tasks. They write and manage grants, develop proposals, lead events and support international cultures at our events. The program serves to connect youth aged 14-26 and those who support them with the Sister Cities of Long Beach (SCLB). The program is being developed through a signed Letter of Intent with the SCLB.
The Makerspace Ambassador certificate program teaches similar skills but is focused on skills development and handmade products. We have a number of Makersville centric goals, and certificate participants can bring their skill interests to our community. Our Makerspace Ambassadors and volunteers support outreaches at local K-12 schools and at Maker and community events in Long Beach, Los Angeles and possibly Orange County. For the 2025-2026 school year, we are starting with support for the Rube Goldberg Competition, Creating products and advancing projects to take to the LA Makerfaire, sewing projects and instruction, and support for artists through the imprinting of their work on jigsaw puzzles, fabric, mugs and T-Shirts.
We support our economically and racially diverse community through the provision of resources and person-power to execute classes and events, to prototype products, to market them.
Makerspace - in Shoreline Village, we host a community makerspace.
We have a proven track record of helping our community.
Our Mission: primarily, through play and discovery, to create and share inclusive skills learning experiences that develop the entrepreneurial mindset, including hands-on training, product prototyping, problem solving, inventing and practical entrepreneurship challenges with the goal of economic inclusion for all in our community.
