Long Beach Gives is Thursday, September 24 — our city’s annual celebration of giving supporting more than 200 local nonprofits. But you don’t have to wait until next Thursday to make a difference!
Two generous Sister Cities of Long Beach Board members have offered to match donations — dollar for dollar — up to $1,000 for gifts made September 17–25.
That means your $25 becomes $50. Your $50 becomes $100. And your $100 becomes $200!
Your gift helps us give Long Beach young people opportunities to discover the world, build international friendships, and become the next generation of citizen diplomats through programs including:
• Student International Exchanges — giving college and university students the opportunity to visit our Sister Cities, experience another culture firsthand, and build friendships with young people around the world.
• Digital Pen Pal Program — connecting Long Beach students with students in our international Sister Cities to learn about one another’s lives, cultures, communities, and aspirations.
• Young Artists and Authors Showcase — encouraging elementary and middle school students to explore global friendship and understanding through art, writing, poetry, and photography.
• International Friendship Ambassadors — providing college students with a year-long experience working with Sister Cities mentors while learning about Long Beach, nonprofit leadership, international relations, and citizen diplomacy.
And these are just some of the ways Sister Cities of Long Beach is bringing the world to our young people — and our young people to the world.
