Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare

A nonprofit organization

For 25 amazing summers, Marine Stadium in Long Beach has been home to Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare's Land Meets Sea Sports Camp, an inspiring three-day event inviting people with disabilities to participate in exhilarating adaptive sports like water skiing, rock-wall climbing, kayaking, and more.

Land Meets Sea has thrived in Long Beach thanks to critical volunteer and donor support from the surrounding community, whose residents are an integral part of the event, helping to create joy through their philanthropy and raising awareness about activities for individuals with disabilities, locally and beyond.

The event is hosted by Casa Colina's Outdoor Adventures program, which provides year-round adaptive recreation activities that contribute to fitness and recovery, build skills and confidence, and foster community. The program is the ultimate extension of Casa Colina's continuum of medical and rehabilitative care and the fulfillment of its goal for all its patients: full participation and enjoyment of life after an injury or illness.

To the disappointment of many, this year's camp could not be held due to concerns over Covid-19. In fact, our entire Outdoor Adventures program has gone on hiatus, meaning our participants currently cannot access these critical therapeutic recreation services, which help them gain life skills, become more independent, and most importantly have fun. We miss our participants dearly and look forward to resuming Outdoor Adventures when it is safe to do so.

In lieu of the fundraising support normally generated by Land Meets Sea, we hope those who would typically donate or volunteer for the camp will consider supporting our Long Beach Gives campaign, so that when Outdoor Adventures activities do return, they return with a bang.

And of course we look forward to seeing you at our 25th anniversary celebration of Land Meets Sea next summer, right back here in our home away from home, Long Beach.

Located in East Los Angeles County in Pomona, Casa Colina offers specialized medical and rehabilitative care to people of all ages. Its continuum of care includes 219 beds consisting of medical-surgical and intensive care, acute rehabilitation, residential rehabilitation, and long-term residential care. Outpatient services include rehabilitation for adults and children, physician clinics, diagnostic imaging, and more.

Mission

The mission of Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare is to optimize medical recovery and rehabilitation outcomes for all patients in a safe environment that respects their dignity, diversity, and individuality.
