DIG LIFE dba Dreamz Into Goals (DIG) believes a student supported succeeds. DIG continues to support, mentor and foster positive relationships with our scholars. Project Pass The Baton is our initiative to support our students throughout their journey from Kinder to Career.
How we accomplish this initiative is as follows. DIG LIFE's Laptop Giveaway is in place to decrease the digital divide and give out a Laptop to a student each month to middle school to high school age students. Then we kick off the school year with a Back-to-School Bike & Backpack Meet Up Event where we help students and their families get ready for the school year with back-to-school activities, repair bikes, provide accessories and free backpacks and supplies.
Shortly after school starts, the LBC Skateboard & Shoe Turn Up Event is held to provide free haircuts, new shoes, Clothing, gift certificates for shoes and skateboards. Always a family event, this is a day at the skatepark with free music, art activity and a chance to sign students up for tutoring or mentorship for the remainder of the school year.
February is the Black History Month Road Trip for all students to join us on a free trip to Allens Allensworth State Park for a day of history and culture. In March we promote the BIGG SiXX Scholarship opportunity made for Seniors in High School and students with GED that are interested in a trade or going to college.
Our events are to keep the students engaged and aware of our programs and also that we support their being in school. After the school year ends, we facilitate an in person meet & greet event for all participants. At this meet up, participants celebrate successes and their mentor & mentee roles. Also, our scholarship recipients are announced and are engaged to tutor and mentor the younger scholars. The lines of benefit we encourage facilitates mentorship and support in the truest form, knowing that dreams can become goals-achievable goals.
"I am grateful you have virtual tutoring going on...My daughter has not had any tutoring during the pandemic," says a parent of three from Long Beach Unified School District.
"This is exactly what I could not get before school, thank you," says a parent upon receiving free shoes for her kids at the DIG LBC Skate Turn Up.
"Live 2 Give" our monicor, is the manifestation of our passion to strengthen our community through our youth as they turn their dreams into goals. Whether from kinder to career, students are supported in the form of events, workshops, laptop giveaway, BIGG SIXX Scholarship, mentorship, and tutoring programs to foster success towards college or beyond as successful entrepreneurs.
