Long Beach Youth Soccer Organization was founded in 1970 under the name Long Beach Youth Soccer Club. In September 1976, the League affiliated with American Youth Soccer Organization as Long Beach Region 114. The League resumed independent status as Long Beach Youth Soccer Organization in February, 1979.
On June 8, 1983, the Directors of the League, by unanimous consent, voted to adopt the Constitution and Bylaws. In October and November of 1983, Long Beach Youth Soccer Organization was registered with the Secretary of State of California and Internal Revenue Service, as a non-profit, unincorporated association.

LBYSO's mission is to provide a low cost, safe and organized environment for children to learn the basis of the game (soccer) thereby enhancing children's well-being, self-esteem and sense of sportsmanship.
