If you're like us, when you see a problem in your community you naturally want to find a way to fix it. When you see suffering and heartbreak in an animal's eyes, you want to find a way to heal them. When you see shelters overcrowded, doing their best to prevent loss of life, you want to be a part of that progress. When you see a wounded animal who needs funds for their medical care, you happily chip in or share their story! This desire to be a part of the change we wish to see in our community is what inspired us to become a non-profit, and we are here to inspire you to be a part of our mission, too!
No matter how big or how small your contribution, YOU ARE A RESCUER TOO. Long Beach Gives is all about rallying vital funds to continue our mission and save more dogs' lives. We also see this as an opportunity to get people involved in whatever way they're able to best help. So, whether you donate $5 or $5,000, whether you foster, adopt, volunteer, share/tag folks on our posts, please know that we see and appreciate you - you rescuer, you! :) Considering the current dire and time-sensitive plight of homeless animals in our community, we really do need you now. It's time for all rescuers on deck!
For our campaign this year, we are going to highlight recent rescue dog journeys, as well as impactful rescues from years past. We will be celebrating the incredible bond between people and dogs, while also featuring the efforts Good Samaritans put forth to be a part of the solution for homeless dogs in our community.
There are so many homeless dogs out there that think the world has given up on them, but Live Love is more motivated than ever to bring them into our pack in order to show them the love and care they deserve. Will you help us make this a reality? We aim to help you to feel empowered to get involved in any and every way you can. Partnering with you is what will ensure a bright future for the many dogs who are currently in need. They are in need of love, of safety, of training, of socialization and of family. Together, we can give them all of that and more. At Live Love, we focus on rescuing dogs that others would likely turn away due to hefty medical expenses or behavioral challenges. We provide them with all the necessary treatments and training a dog needs to be balanced and healthy. Our mission is the same as it's always been: To give these wonderful rescue dogs the love-filled life they are inherently worthy of, whether that means they find a new home through adoption, or become a forever foster with our rescue.
Even long after a dog has finally found a place to call home, we remain just as committed as we were from the start, offering any support we can along the way. Oftentimes, these families, now made complete with a Live Love dog, are so inspired by the love and bond they have with their dog that they become donors, fosters, volunteers. They continue to amaze us with their efforts and generosity. This is just one reason we started the #YouAreARescuerToo campaign, and why it is especially important that we continue to celebrate these good humans and inspire more community members to get involved at this time!
As a Foster-Based dog rescue, we believe the best way for homeless dogs to heal is in the comfort and safety of a foster home. This is the first resource we provide them when they begin their rescue journey with us. Next, it's medical care and behavior training. Our average rescue dog receives $946.00 in these services. In 2021, we rescued 270 dogs, we spent $200,000 in medical care alone for these dogs, and we spent $48,000 on training programs. We believe in healing the dogs in every way: physically, emotionally and behaviorally, so they can live their best lives with a future adoptive family!
Live Love is a proven force for good for Long Beach's homeless dogs. The $15,000 we hope to raise for this 2022 Long Beach Gives will sponsor the cost of care for existing and future rescue dogs, and ultimately allow us to rescue more dogs this year than we would otherwise have been able to. Our impact in the community continues to grow with your support, and our city's homeless dogs surely hold out hope to become Live Love Dogs. Let's hit our goal and make that dream a reality by welcoming them into our pack and, in doing so, you'll be showing everyone what we here at Live Love already know: You Are A Rescuer, Too!
"LLAR means second, third, fourth, however many chances a dog needs to get it right! I got involved with LLAR because it means a lot to me that LLAR does not shy away from the "challenging" adoptions; we rescue dogs with behavioral issues, health concerns, senior dogs, pregnant dogs -- we do it all! And what has impressed me the most since joining LLAR is our long-term commitment to these dogs; we provide ongoing support in so many ways. LLAR puts as much energy into making sure everything is going smoothly AFTER the adoption as we do trying to get the dog adopted in the first place...
We save homeless animals by providing them a lifelong commitment to their well-being through our foster-based rescue efforts. We also aid human dog-parents in the care and well-being of their beloved pet through our Families Forever program. Our ultimate goal is to find our rescued dogs a forever home of their own and for those that are too ill, they will remain in our rescue family as Forever Fosters and be cherished for all of their days.
