We provide free eye exams and glasses to all LBUSD children and youth in need. Identifying and correcting poor vision as early as possible is a major key to healthy childhood development. The average cost per student is $150. As funding allows, we also provide the same for adults. We are also preparing for our 4th community "Sight First Health Fair" to be held in 2021, our club's Centennial year. At our past two health fairs held at Dr Martin Luther King Jr Park and Silverado Park respectively, 800 attendees were provided free eye screenings and recycled glasses, among other essential services. The Downtown Long Beach Lions Club was chartered in 1921 and Downtown Lions Club Charities was incorporated in 1958.
