Since 1919, the Long Beach Area Council has served generations of Long Beach families.
For more than 106 years, Scouting has trained young men and women in responsible citizenship, character development, and self-reliance through participation in a wide range of outdoor activities, educational programs, and career-oriented programs in partnership with community organizations.
Scouting provides more than 30,000 hours of service to Long Beach every year. Local scouts also collect 16,000 pounds of food in a one-day effort every year. More than 60 teenagers each do large-scale community projects every year in pursuit of earning the coveted and well respected designation of Eagle Scout.
More than 5,000 Long Beach youth attended our Long Beach Sea Base aquatics facility in 2024.
Testimonials
Carrie Susa: "My daughter loved every minute of camp and each day she shared the cool new things she got to learn and do."
Nicholas Beas: "Our children (2nd and 4th grade) did two weeks of Sea Base camp and our only regret was that we didn't sign them up for more. They had an absolute blast. The staff is wonderful and the various activities kept the kids engaged and wanting more every day."
Katherine Salamon: "My daughters have been involved with the Sea Base and Sea Scouts for over 3 years and this base has become our 2nd home. The staff that run it and the scouts who participate in the program have become like family to us. The support and skills they have given my girls will benefit them for their entire lives. Thank you Long Beach Sea Base!"
Tracy Vidal: "Cannot say enough GREAT things about LBSB! The counselors are thorough and engaging, they have a very safe and efficient check-in / check-out system, and a WIDE variety of topics taught in their Merit Badge classes. We are so thankful for this Sea Base - thank you for all you did for my kiddos this summer! And special thanks to Joe and Mary for helping us with the last minute schedule shift. See you next summer!"
