Pools of Hope has been providing life-changing, therapeutic, aquatic and wellness programs for individuals with a disability, injury, or chronic condition for more than 60 years — and we continue to grow each year with services to fit every age and ability.
Programs we offer include, but are not limited to:
Aquatic Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy for rehabilitation and improved quality of life.
Veterans Program with free adaptive swim sessions and paddle boarding classes.
Deep Water Exercise and Conditioning Activities to regain strength, range of motion, and flexibility.
Aquatic Exercise Classes for fun physical activities in the warm water pools.
Nutrition Wellness Program with a weekly Food Pantry that offers fresh, frozen and shelf-stable healthy items to build nutritious meals.
Youth Wellness Program that meets all children where they are, teaching them water-safety and swim skills, providing free asthma screenings, summer camp, and so much more.
For seniors, Pools of Hope offers a wide range of age-appropriate, culturally relevant services designed not only to reduce the symptoms of chronic conditions and injuries, but also to help older adults thrive in everyday life. Specialized aquatic programs and wellness services keep seniors active, independent, and connected as they age. Warm water exercise can improve balance, strength, flexibility, and mobility while easing joint pain, stiffness, and other physical challenges that often come with aging. These programs also play an important role in fall prevention by building core strength, coordination, and confidence in movement. For many adults over the age of 55, regular access to aquatic therapy and wellness classes can mean staying in their own homes longer, maintaining daily routines, and enjoying a higher quality of life with greater comfort, safety, and independence.
Pools of Hope provides a safe, welcoming space where seniors can build friendships, find peer support, and strengthen social connections that reduce isolation and foster a greater sense of community and belonging. Through these programs, older adults are able to live with greater dignity, connection, and care.
Your donation ensures that Pools of Hope can offer free and reduced-priced aquatic programs and wellness services that support the well-being of older adults, Veterans, chronically-ill and injured, people of all ages with a disability, and North Long Beach's promising next generation of children and youth.
