For 100 years, Tichenor Clinic for Children has provided therapy services to children with disabilities and their families regardless of their ability to pay. We offer physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language therapy, swim therapy, an early intervention program, and orthopedic consultation for children ages birth to 18.
We also offer Parent Support Services, where families build a strong community network, parents and caregivers learn how to nurture their child's development, and gain the skills to become their child's best advocate.
Help us forge a strong community by supporting children early to reach their maximum potential!
Leandro's Story
“He wasn’t saying anything… now he’s talking, asking questions, telling stories.”
When Susan looks back at videos from a year ago, she can hardly believe Leandro’s transformation. At 22 months, he was completely non‑verbal, “he would just make sounds.” Those first days in the Development Program were overwhelming. “He was crying and yelling the whole time… I almost said no because it was really hard for him,” she recalls.
But they stayed. And slowly, with the structure of the Development Program, the comfort of music and routine, and the steady patience of the therapists, something shifted. His family learned how to support his learning at home, and that consistency opened a door they had been waiting for.
Words came. Then questions. Then stories.
The change touched everyone. “Now I actually interact with him,” his father, Albert, says. When Leandro started pre-K, he walked in confidently and waved goodbye, something they once thought impossible.
Today, at four, Leandro is funny, energetic, and wonderfully talkative. He plays with friends, adapts to new environments, and meets each day with confidence. Albert reflects, “Honestly, I don’t know where he’d be without this.” Susan adds, “It changed us, not just him. It changed everybody.”
