Help Us Waterproof Our Youth!

The Aquatic Capital of America Foundation is a volunteer-led nonprofit dedicated to supporting youth aquatics and expanding access to the water throughout Long Beach.

One of our most important initiatives is Waterproof Our Youth, which provides swim lessons to children in underserved areas of Long Beach who may not otherwise have the opportunity to learn.

Since 2018, the program has provided more than 1,000 swim lessons to local children—but there are still so many more we can reach.

Learning to swim isn't just a recreational skill. It can save a life, and is the foundation for all water sports. 

Did you know...

In the United States, more children ages 1-4 die from drowning than any other cause of death. For children ages 5-14, drowning is the second leading cause of death. 

We believe a family's financial circumstances should never determine whether a child has the skills and confidence to be safe in the water.

Your donation helps put another child in the pool, provides access to lifesaving swim instruction, and moves us closer to a future where every child in our community is water-safe.

Through our partnership programs, it costs just $100 to drown-proof a child over the course of eight lessons.
