A Message from the Director

There are moments in this work that stay with you.  A smile after a difficult day.  A small accomplishment that becomes a big victory.  A resident proudly trying something new.  Laughter coming from the kitchen.  Two housemates encouraging one another.  These are the moments that remind me why Agape Christian Homes is so much more than a place of care.  

As Director, I have the privilege of witnessing the heart behind the work every day.  My responsibility is not only to oversee our homes and team, but to make sure that the people entrusted to us receive the kind af care we would want for our own loved ones.  

Every person is different.  Each has their own personality abilities, fears, hopes, routines, and ways of communicating. Sometimes life presents challenges that require patience, creativity, and an extra measure of understanding.  Our team meets those moments with compassion and determination, helping each individual navigate daily life while encouraging them to be as independent confident, and involved as possible.  And sometimes, caring means going a little further.  It means noticing when someone isn't quite themselves.  Sitting a little longer.  Finding a way to communicate.  Celebrating something others might consider small, because we know how meaningful it is to that person.  It means showing up--not just as caregivers, but as people who genuinely care.  

Over time, something beautiful happens. The people we serve become woven into our lives.  Their joys become our joys, their accomplishments make us proud and their difficult days matter to us.  They become family.  

I am expecially grateful for the remarkable individuals who make up our Agape team. Their patience, dedication, kindness, and willingness to give of themselves are the heart and soul of our homes.  I am proud to stand beside them and grateful for the love they bring to this work.

My sincere appreciation also goes to our Board Members for their guidance and stewardship and to every donor and supporter who stands behind our mission.  

Together, we create something that cannot be measured simply by the care we provide.  We create belonging. We create connection.  We create a place where each person knows they matter.  And that, to me, is the true heart of Agape.
