Hello, I'm Dr. Ardel Guillamas Avelino, currently serving as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach. I began my nursing journey at Long Beach City College (LBCC), where I completed the registered nursing program and even served as an adjunct faculty/clinical instructor.
My educational path continued with a Bachelor’s in Nursing from Holy Names University, followed by a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from CSU Long Beach. I capped it off with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership from Baylor University
Over the years, I’ve been privileged to serve in leadership and advisory roles across the community. In 2022, I was deeply honored to be inducted into the LBCC Alumni Hall of Fame—a milestone that recognized both my professional contributions and community work. I continue to stay actively involved with LBCC as part of the Foundation’s executive board and by chairing the Alumni Nursing Endowment Fund campaign.
So that’s a snapshot of who I am — someone deeply committed to healthcare leadership, mentorship, community engagement, and building systems that serve equitably and effectively.
It is my pleasure to support the Foundation’s Long Beach Gives campaign to enhance the Alumni Nursing Endowment Fund, an investment in our region’s future healthcare needs.
Your donation through my page here will help provide scholarships, equipment, and additional opportunities to empower our future nurses to succeed. I am truly grateful for your contribution!
Thank you!
