Your gift fuels the essentials: from safe transportation to job interviews and training sessions, to hands-on workshops that build skills and confidence, to one-on-one coaching and technical certifications that prepare our candidates for sustainable, living-wage careers.

Merge Opportunities is a Long Beach–based nonprofit that prepares system-impacted and underserved young adults across LA and Orange County for sustainable careers through training, mentorship, and apprenticeships. Our participants, typically ages 18–28, are transitioning out of foster care, navigating reentry, or overcoming barriers from low-income environments. In just three years, we’ve successfully placed nearly 300 candidates, including 98 so far this year alone, and we are honored and excited to help so many more eager young adults take the next step toward a brighter future.

One my most meaningful experiences was the decade I spent as a Big Brother through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater LA. I met this young boy when he was just eight years old and he faced more barriers in those early years than many faced in a lifetime. As he neared 18, I kept wondering: What comes next when everything changes overnight, just because they turned 18?

That’s why I joined Merge. Merge is that bridge, the one I wish had existed for my Little Brother and so many others, including foster youth and system impacted individuals like him. We help young adults overcome real-world barriers to employment by offering training, mentorship, apprenticeships and direct access to career opportunities. And none of it would be possible without you.
