Hi, I’m Sarah! I’m excited to raise funds for the CELP Scholars as part of the Aquarium of the Pacific’s Long Beach Gives campaign. This program is changing the future of marine science by providing leadership opportunities to young people from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about protecting our oceans.

Why This Cause is Important to Me

As a 2024 CELP Scholar, this program has impacted me in more ways that I expected. When I joined CELP, I was expecting it to be like any other scholar program where you attend events and just go about the rest of your day. But instead, it has provided me with a community of amazing individuals who all share a similar passion as I do for the marine sciences. We all come from different backgrounds so it’s great to bond over shared interests and learn from one another. It has truly been one of my greatest support systems when it comes to my career in marine science.

Especially being a Latina in STEM, I want individuals who have never seen themselves represented before know that it is possible and there is a support system out there for them to utilize.
