Operation Jump Start (OJS) helps students in Long Beach who come from low-income families, get into and finish college. 

OJS works with students - starting in middle school. We then help them throughout high school and to apply for college, including (FAFSA) student-aid, making sure they have the support and resources to succeed. These students go on to earn their Bachelors / Masters degree.

How Well Does It Work?

  • Every single student in the program has graduated from high school on time.

  • 95% of students go straight to college after high school.

  • 93% of the students are either still in college or have already earned a four-year degree.

  • The program has a 75% college graduation rate within six years! (Which is much higher than the national average - 9%)

All students are the first in their families to go to college. OJS has proudly served the Long Beach community for 30+ years.
