We are a catalyst that informs, activates, and connects community leaders to more meaningfully serve Long Beach. Leadership Long Beach has changed lives and made Long Beach a better city to live, work, and play in for over 35 years. 

Leadership Long Beach informs: bringing community leaders together to learn about the businesses, departments, and nonprofits serving the city and the unique challenges they face.

Leadership Long Beach activates: providing volunteers for major initiatives like the Connected Corridor project to hosting the city's MLK Day of Service for more than 15 years (save the date for January 18, 2027). 

Leadership Long Beach connects: running adult programs with representatives from all three sectors (public, private/business, and nonprofit) and youth programs with representatives from schools around LBUSD.

My Journey:

What started as a room full of strangers became a community I am incredibly proud to call family. Over 10 months, 32 of us had the opportunity to learn, listen, challenge ourselves, and take a deeper look at the people, organizations, and systems that make Long Beach the incredible city it is.

Our experience reminded me that leadership isn’t about being the loudest voice in the room. It’s about making an impact, advocating for others, listening with an open mind, and creating opportunities for those around you to succeed.

Most importantly, Leadership Long Beach showed me that our city is filled with people doing meaningful work every single day — often behind the scenes — to create a stronger, more connected, and more equitable Long Beach.
