Healthcare shouldn't be out of reach just because someone can't afford it. But for a lot of people in our community, that's exactly the barrier they face. Chronic pain, insomnia, anxiety, and other conditions often go untreated simply because consistent care costs too much.

That's why I'm supporting Urban Salt Community Acupuncture Clinic, a nonprofit bringing Traditional Chinese Medicine to Long Beach and Santa Ana on a sliding scale — and, once a month at each location, completely free.

Running one of these Free Clinic days costs Urban Salt about $625. The clinic still pays its doctors for their time, but between that cost and the patient revenue the clinic goes without during those hours, it adds up — money that could otherwise go toward keeping their doors open and their sliding-scale prices low for everyone else.

I'm raising $625 to help cover one Free Clinic, so someone who couldn't otherwise afford care gets treated at no cost. Any amount you can give helps get us there.

About Urban Salt

Urban Salt Community Acupuncture Clinic is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit closing that gap, offering acupuncture, herbal medicine, and other Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities as an accessible and affordable healthcare option.

At the same time, we're addressing a second, closely connected gap: as acupuncture schools close and sustainable career paths shrink, we give new doctors a place to practice, get paid, and build a career without the burden of business loans and startup costs most new practitioners face alone.

Founded in 2024 in Long Beach, we've since expanded to a second location in Santa Ana to serve our Orange County populations. We’re now offering care 7 days a week, from 8 practitioners across both our locations.

Our Impact

In 2025 alone, we provided 2,770 treatments for 580 patients and hosted 24 free clinics, serving patients who might otherwise go without care. That growth hasn't slowed — in the first seven months of 2026, we've already delivered 3,283 treatments for 695 patients. Patients pay what they can afford on our sliding scale, or are treated at no cost during free clinics and community outreach events. Our clinic opts out of the insurance-based healthcare system to provide care efficiently, affordably, and with less patient stress.

And since opening in 2024, we've given 15 TCM practitioners a place to build their careers, paying them a living wage along the way. For those who qualify, we also start the clock on Public Service Loan Forgiveness — for one practitioner so far, that's put $200,000 in student debt on a path to forgiveness. It's a benefit we're working to extend to more of our doctors as they become eligible.
