At the Earthlodge, Rooted and Grounded is an essential theme as it represents our commitment to staying connected to the Earth, to our Sacred Earth Pit, and to our communities, despite challenges to our identities and personhood. The work of the Earthlodge is “rooted” in ancestral wisdom and nature-based wellness while remaining “grounded” in the needs of the community.

Why It Matters More Than Ever

Requests for our programs have grown by 25–30%—from community members to partner groups like the City of Long Beach and Project Optimism.

At the same time, funding for nonprofits—especially queer-centered ones like ours—is shrinking.

Your support will help us to provide rapid-response wellness for communities in crisis.

Our programming has seen exponential growth this last year in all areas, including:

  • Drum Medicine program has expanded with drummers showing up regularly for the medicine in addition to skilling up with the drum core;
  • QTBIPOC Sangha has grown a care team to allow for collective holding of the Sunday Morning Meditation space;
  • Hands on the Land has not only kept the grounds pristine with a strong group of consistent volunteers but also planted and harvested spring and summer crops that has provided food for community members in our community garden;
  • community workforce and resources fairs; local middle and high schools in partnerships with their wellness centers;
  • the Long Beach Juneteenth Festival and the Kwanza Experience;
  • numerous youth focused events such as Celebration of the Young Child and the LB Youth Council;
  • Long Beach and LA County Pride Events; and
  • West Hollywood Women’s, Black Lesbians United, Born to Drum, book readings, and panels.
