As the co-founder of Forgotten Images: A Traveling Educational Exhibit and Museum. For nearly two decades, my husband David and I have collected thousands of artifacts spanning centuries of African American history—items that tell the truth about our struggle, our brilliance, and our joy. We often say, “We are standing on the shoulders of our ancestors,” and with that comes responsibility: to preserve our stories and pass them on.

That is why I support the African American Cultural Center of Long Beach (AACCLB)—and why I’m asking you to join me.

Long Beach is my home. I was raised here, I’ve served this community my whole life, and I’ve watched our young people light up when they see themselves reflected in history. AACCLB creates that experience every day: a welcoming space for learning, healing, and pride. It’s a place where teachers bring classrooms, families bring children, elders share wisdom, and the wider community comes to understand the full American story.

Your gift today helps AACCLB:

  • Preserve and present collections like Forgotten Images so they’re accessible to schools and neighbors across our city.

  • Host exhibits, conversations, and cultural programs that deepen awareness and belonging.

  • Inspire the next generation to know who they are—and how far we’ve come.

If these stories have ever moved you, please give. Let’s make sure our history is seen, taught, and cherished—not boxed up or forgotten. Join me in supporting AACCLB.
