Hello, my name is Veronica Cotter, and I am asking you to join me in supporting Angels Gate Cultural Center. My goal is $1000.
The Arts have been my lifeblood for nearly fifty years. The art classes I took in college were a transformative experience that pointed me toward a career and life dedicated to photography. I recently joined the Board and look forward to helping Angels Gate thrive and continue their important work in arts education and community outreach.
My husband, Dennis Keeley, has had a studio at Angels Gate for twenty-eight years. I’ve walked the campus over the years and visited many of the artists and studios. It’s hard to describe, but I always feel a sense of renewed energy and desire to create work every time I visit.
Angels Gate Cultural Center occupies historic decommissioned military barracks in San Pedro, CA. Angels Gate is a unique resource featuring a wide variety of classes, instructors, facilities, exhibitions, workshops and events. The 50+ studios provide artists a creative environment to make work. From one building to the next you will find ceramic artists, painters, photographers, print makers, sculptors, writers, mixed media artists, film makers, and many more. Angels Gate is a dynamic and inclusive hub of arts and culture.
Over the years I have participated in non-profit programs devoted to helping children with limited access to arts education express their creativity and become visual story tellers. Their enthusiasm and joy in making art was a powerful reminder of the need for all to have access to programs and instructors. This remains true today.
Angels Gate Cultural Center believes every child should have access to a well-rounded education that includes the arts. They are working with community partners to ensure the arts remain a part of the K-12 curriculum.
