In support of KUBO Organizing Project's fundraising efforts in Long Beach Gives, Flipp Family and Rising Filipinas is hosting a Fundraiser bringing together families:

Pamilya Play: What We Learn From Our Lolas — A Family Day of Storytelling, Crafts, Culture & Connection

📅 Saturday, September 19 at 4p

📍 Location: KUBO Long Beach (3976 Atlantic Ave. Long Beach, CA 90807)

Our goal is to raise $1,000 for KUBO OP through this family gathering. Flipp Family and Rising Filipinas invite you and your lola/lolo  to join us for an afternoon of sharing stories, family activities and merienda (light refreshments).

To attend, kindly provide a suggested sliding-scale donation between $10–$40 per person.

Flipp Family and Rising Filipinas have been instrumental in KUBO Long Beach and KUBO Organizing Project's foundation and creating a space of community care and healing.

As moms of 3, we know how rare it is to gather the whole family into one room - time is the one thing none of us have enough of. That's exactly why we hold space for it.

Because when our lolas and lolos speak, they're not just telling stories. They're handing us pieces of ourselves - migration journeys, family traditions, hard-won wisdom - that we'd otherwise lose to the everyday rush.

We don't take these moments for granted. every story shared across generations is a thread that keeps our families, and our culture whole. Help us create more space for these conversations to happen - for the lolas and lolos who carry our history, and the kids who need to hear it.

About KUBO Organizing Project

KUBO Organizing Project is a Long Beach-based nonprofit rooted in the give-back, philanthropy spirit of collective entrepreneurs and organizers. Alongside our retail partner, KUBO Long Beach, we offer our community space in Bixby Knolls as a home for programming that helps Filipinos and Filipino Americans reconnect to their roots — reckoning with identity, culture, and the ways colonization and intergenerational trauma have shaped how we show up in the world.

At the heart of everything we do is the belief that self-care is community care, and that healing happens in community. Your support helps power programs like the Long Beach Parol Lantern Festival (our flagship event), Restorative Yoga, Cultural Practitioner Spotlights, wellness events, and cultural programming — all approached through a lens of community healing.

Why support this fundraiser?

KUBO Long Beach has been a gathering space for Flipp Family and Rising Filipinas to collaborate and bring families of all walks of life to come together. This is an opportunity to give back to KUBO Organizing Project so that the programs they produce continues to thrive.
