Rachel’s Fundraiser for Children’s Benefit League

As a teacher, I saw firsthand how many children and families in our community struggle to afford even the basics.  For some of my students, the meal they received at school might be their only full meal of the day. When a family is already choosing between groceries, gas and other necessities, healthcare and dental care can become something they simply cannot afford.

Today, the rising cost of healthcare and insurance, along with limited or no dental coverage, makes those choices even harder for many families. Things so many of us take for granted—a doctor’s visit, dental care, mental health services or specialized care for a child—can be out of reach.

That is why I am raising funds for Children’s Benefit League. For 80 years, this all-volunteer-run Long Beach nonprofit has helped expand access to essential services for local children and families who face barriers to care.
