As a volunteer for the Children’s Maritime Institute (CMI), I've had the opportunity to sail aboard this beautiful three masted schooner, easily recognized by her bright ochre sails. American Pride is the oldest in our fleet and she needs a lot of TLC.
American Pride's events include: Weekend Wonders (deck tours and hands on lessons for all ages), TopSail Youth Program, Sunset Sails, L.A. Harbor Parades, San Pedro's Fleet Week, Maritime Festival (A celebration of Tall Ships) and is available for private events. Most recently, the Long Beach Symphony featured the American Pride tall ship for boarding as a special pre-concert attraction during its live-to-film presentation of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
Your donation helps with the every day care of this beautiful historic working ship. In addition, when you donate to the Children’s Maritime Institute through Long Beach Gives or any other time, you are helping more local youth make discoveries about themselves, their abilities and the world around them in our unique, safe and exciting environment with the support of our dedicated crew.
