My grandmother Ida devoted her life to serving others, especially older adults. Visiting nursing homes with her as a child changed my life, inspiring me and my sister Keri to continue her work. In 2008, we founded Heart of Ida to honor her legacy and ensure that seniors in Long Beach are seen, supported, and connected.

Today, Heart of Ida is a lifeline for older adults. Seniors like Evelyn, who found hope and inspiration after experiencing homelessness; Josefina, who regained independence through food assistance; and Mona, who found connection and belonging after moving to a new country, rely on our programs for dignity, support, and community. From tech help and hygiene kits to CalFresh assistance and essential resources, we meet seniors where they are, helping them live healthier, more connected lives.

Your gift during Long Beach Gives ensures that Heart of Ida can continue this vital work—keeping seniors nourished, connected, and empowered to thrive. Together, we can honor Ida’s legacy and transform the lives of hundreds of older adults in our community.
