In 2000, at the request of a friend, I joined a club for the first the time since I was in high school. I had no idea the affect it would have on my life, much less the lives of so many women and girls where I live and who live in over 124 countries.

Soroptimist International of Long Beach (SILB) founded in 1924 has a profound affect on women who may have forgotten what it is like to feel good about themselves and their families. We have all made some bad choices along the way, but the women we help are in the midst of pulling out of a deep dive and ready to be productive members of their community.

Through educational scholarships and grants, the goals of these women can be reached through self-determination, economic empowerment and the support of their families.

SILB has raised more than $700,000 since I joined. That's an average of $35,000 a year. But we can't do it with our members alone. We need help from our community and friends like you.
