Who We Are
Bixby Knolls Community Foundation (BKCF) was founded in 2019 as an independent philanthropic entity that is linked to the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association. While the Business Improvement Association focuses on commerce, BKCF operates as a separate entity that serves the Bixby Knolls neighborhood through programming that finds the intersection between business and community needs. BKCF is a valuable community resource that promotes the arts and quality of life for Bixby Knolls residents and visitors to the Bixby Knolls neighborhood.

Bixby Knolls Community Foundation serves our city’s highly diverse Bixby Knolls community, bordered by the 405 Freeway to the south, Del Amo Blvd to the north, the Los Angeles River to the west, and Cherry Avenue to the east. Bixby Knolls is 35% White, 26% Latinx, 13% Black, 12% Asian, 4% two or more races, 4% Indigenous, 1% API, and 4% other (Citydata.com). In terms of household income, Bixby Knolls shows a surprisingly equal distribution: 15% under $25,000; 18% $25,000 to $44,000; 21% $45,000 to $74,000; 27% $75,000 to $149,000; and 20% $150,000 and above.

Programing
BKCF serves the Bixby Knolls community by bringing diverse people together in a way that promotes social cohesion. We use a keen sense of fun as a means to bring people together.
Long Beach Student Food Insecurity Program - The Long Beach Student Food Insecurity program delivers weekly hot meals to food-insecure local college students throughout the year.
First Fridays - This monthly themed art walk showcases local art, food, and entertainment. It is a popular event that highlights the cultures and businesses that make our neighborhood vibrant and unique.
EXPO Art Center - EXPO Art Center is an arts and performance space in Bixby Knolls that has become an important gathering place for artists in our neighborhood.
Concerts in the Park(ing Lot) - This four-concert series takes place in parking lots of businesses in Bixby Knolls on Monday nights throughout the summer. Concerts feature local artists, with food and drink available from Bixby Knolls restaurants.
Kidical Mass Bike Ride - Kidical Mass is a monthly, family-friendly community bike ride through Bixby Knolls. These 4 to 4.5 mile rides for kids of all ages encourage participants to visit places of interest in our neighborhood.
Knights of the Round (Turn)Table - Each month, a different Bixby Knolls restaurant hosts Knights of the Round (Turn)Table. The format is simple: One classic album is played as people listen. The host shares details and background about the album.
