ENDING THE SUFFERING THROUGH SPAY AND NEUTER OF COMMUNITY CATS

The Little Lion Foundation is on a mission to end the suffering of free-roaming cats in Long Beach. In late 2024, we proudly opened our very own Community Cat Clinic, and since then we have already sterilized more than 1,500 cats. Our goal is to reach up to 250 cats per month, ultimately stopping the overpopulation of cats in our community. The clinic provides low-cost spay and neuter, wellness services, and preventive care for cat owners, while also serving as a lifeline for community cats.

But we can’t do it without you. Our work is fully funded by donations, and your support allows us to keep the doors open and continue making a lasting difference.

TRAP-NEUTER-VACCINATE-RETURN (TNVR)

Where do you think all these shelter animals come from? Why are there so many homeless cats and kittens on our streets? The majority are not coming from people’s homes — they are born outside. Here in Southern California, where kitten season lasts all year long, the only real solution is prevention.

That’s why we launched the Long Beach Community Cat Program, which provides free spay/neuter, vaccines, and microchips to community cats. We also loan traps and teach caregivers how to use them, empowering neighbors to be part of the solution. Once cats are sterilized, vaccinated, and ear-tipped, they are returned to their outdoor homes to live healthier, safer lives without adding to the overpopulation crisis.

RESCUE AND KITTEN CARE

Alongside prevention, The Little Lion Foundation rescues and rehabilitates the most vulnerable. Each year, we take in 1,200–1,500 kittens, working hand-in-hand with Long Beach Animal Care Services to save underage kittens who cannot survive in the shelter and pulling fragile lives directly from colonies.

In 2019, we launched the Little Paws Project, Long Beach’s first-ever kitten nursery, which has already saved over 2,500 kittens. Volunteers provide around-the-clock feeding, cleaning, and medical care until these babies are ready for foster or adoption.

COMPLETING FAMILIES THROUGH FOSTER & ADOPTION

Every Little Lion deserves a loving home. Our foster program gives cats and kittens the chance to learn how to live in a family setting, while our adoption team works to find them the purr-fect forever home once they are ready.

KEEPING FAMILIES TOGETHER THROUGH COMMUNITY WELLNESS

We believe in keeping pets with the families who love them. Our Community Wellness Program provides free vaccines, flea treatments, dewormers, microchips, and spay/neuter resources to families in need. By offering these services, we keep pets healthy, reduce shelter surrenders, and strengthen the bond between people and their animals.

💛 Together, we can stop the suffering of community cats and give every kitten a fighting chance. Please consider supporting The Little Lion Foundation through Long Beach Gives and help us continue this lifesaving work.
