Connected Families. Collaborative Communities.
Building Bridges Between Churches, Community, and Child Welfare
Reconcile Long Beach was launched in 2024 with the belief that we work better together. We set out to build spaces of collaboration between local churches, community-based organizations, and government agencies — because vulnerable families shouldn't have to navigate a fragmented system alone.
We envision a Long Beach where families are healing, whole, and thriving.
We work to build sustainable partnerships between community members, organizations, and local churches to strengthen families through four core pillars:
Educate — Training churches and the community in trauma-informed care, child welfare needs, and practical, faith-based pathways to support families.
Mobilize — Equipping churches with tangible ways to act, from providing healthy snacks for visitation centers to hands-on support for families in crisis. We are currently raising funds to transform DCFS visitation rooms into warm, welcoming spaces where families can reconnect.
Connect — Creating intentional relationships that change lives. Our TAY Friends program pairs young adults (18–21) who have aged out of foster care with mentors from local churches, ensuring they are not alone as they step into adulthood. We recently completed our first pilot cohort and are now preparing to grow the program. Connection is the thread woven through everything we do.
Collaborate — Partnering with LA County DCFS, the City of Long Beach, and local networks like the South Bay Care Collaborative to strengthen family preservation efforts across systems.
Our Year Ahead
2026 has been a season of building the foundation for lasting impact — developing a strategic plan, forming our first board of directors, and preparing to launch Made for Connection, a trauma-informed training for church and ministry leaders, in January 2027. We're also laying the groundwork for the Family Support Network, a community-led prevention model that will provide chaplaincy, advocacy, and emergency support to keep families out of the child welfare system altogether. None of it is possible without a community willing to invest in the work behind the work.
Multiply Your Impact
Your gift during Long Beach Gives helps us expand these programs, grow church engagement, and provide tangible hope for families who need it most — from funding warm visitation rooms at DCFS to training the next cohort of TAY Friends mentors.
Families reconcile when communities collaborate. Will you join us?
