LBCT provides fresh groceries to those who can’t go get them. But they also need to pay rent!

Dear friends, family, neighbors, and wider community members—

Many of you know that from time to time I get to volunteer driving fresh groceries and produce from Long Beach Community Table to the homebound. It is an incredible privilege to be able to do so, as many in our community—and many more each day as people ail within this crumbling economy—are without the means to get to the store themselves and do not have deep networks of support to help them with even the basic necessities you and I can conveniently get at local grocery stores.

Any one of us, at any time, can find ourselves in such difficulties, hoping that an organization like Long Beach Community Table can provide—free of charge as they do—bags of groceries directly to your door, and often right to the kitchen counter.

Three bags ready to be  loaded into the car!Operating expenses, however, such as the cost of endlessly maintaining or replacing the many refrigerators, paying rent for the warehouse space, or even maintaining and operating their truck that delivers to the unhoused at local parks, are significant and LBCT covers these entirely through donations and an ever-dwindling supply of grants.

Can you help them last just a few months longer?

I—and my many neighbors throughout the city of Long Beach—appreciate your thoughts and aid.
