Future Project Fund

Our conservation work so far has been on artwork. A February 2026 evaluation covered seven in the gallery at $25,620 total, and five of the seven are now funded, Madonna of the Atlantic through board funds, Madonna of the Tall Ships and Mauretania Arriving at Rosyth through individual donors, and The Mills Circus donated pro bono by our conservator. Two more are the subject of our other Long Beach Gives pages this year.

The next projects may not be paintings. Historic woodwork, fixtures, and decorative surfaces need attention as much as the canvases do, and in some rooms more urgently. What we take on next depends on condition and on what the City of Long Beach approves. Every project goes through review before anyone touches anything, and that review runs on its own schedule.

This fund exists so the money is already in hand when approval comes. Qualified conservators book out months ahead. When we raise the money after the green light, we lose a season. When the money is waiting, work begins.

The Queen Mary Heritage Foundation is all-volunteer apart from our executive director. We have put more than $37,000 into conservation so far, all of it through licensed conservators working to the Secretary of the Interior's Standards, with written and photographic documentation before, during, and after treatment.
