Where the Magic Happens!!

Musical Theatre West is so lucky to present its acclaimed Broadway-quality productions in the beautiful state-of-the-art Carpenter Performing Arts Center on the Cal State Long Beach campus.   

But meanwhile, the incredibly dedicated staff comes to work each day in the over 30-year-old Musical Theatre West office building in Long Beach; a building that hasn't had necessary updating or renovations in years! It desperately needs a new roof; the Air Conditioning is unreliable; and our education staff is working out of a trailer.

The building houses 11 full-time and 7 part-time staff, as well as our Box Office, costume, scenic storage, donor events, and special meetings. It is also our rehearsal space! Can you imagine the "Hello Dolly" cast of 37 singing and dancing their hearts out with no air conditioning??

Also, many of our FREE education/outreach activities happen here.  Over 18,000 students — nearly all of them from underserved and under-resourced schools — benefit from our music and theatre classes and programs each year.

Our building is the beating heart of Musical Theatre West.   Your generous donation through Long Beach Gives can help us renovate, improve and grow our working spaces so that Musical Theatre West can continue to build the magical productions and educational programs that our Southern California communities have come to treasure!
