Both Long Beach and Lauren's Legacy Scholarship foundation hold a special place in my heart. Long Beach is a city where I've grown up alongside my best friend, Lauren. Community meant so much to her, and it is such a big part of Long Beach so naturally it's also reflected in this foundation.

I'm so grateful for Long Beach Gives and excited to help raise money and awareness alongside hundreds of local organizations. Last year, we surpassed our goal of $5K and this year we're hoping to double that. We're looking to raise $10K to support our programming and help grant scholarships to young Black women looking to pursue higher education.

About LLSF

Lauren’s Legacy Scholarship Foundation (LLSF) was created to honor the incredible Lauren Hicks a proud Long Beach native honor student, and Spelman College graduate whose life was cut short at just 25 years old due to deep vein thrombosis (DVT). To carry her spirit forward, LLSF provides:

* Scholarships for college and trade bound young Black women from underserved communities.

* Leadership & Advocacy opportunities, including health education around blood clot awareness in Black and Brown communities.
