$10,000 funds SIX scholarships for Six young women pursuing higher education whether they’re entering freshman year or already on their journey.
Every dollar raised through Long Beach Gives will helps remove financial barriers like tuition, book and housing, giving these young women the support they need to stay in school and move closer to their goals.
In our first full year of scholarship programming, 2025, Lauren’s Legacy awarded more than $10,000 to Lauren legacy scholars.
In 2026, our call for scholarship application over 200 young women across from greater Long Beach area.
We will award 6 scholarships in our second cohort.

Meet Gianna
In 2025, Gianna became one of Lauren’s Legacy’s first scholarship recipients. In May 2026 she graduated from the University of Southern California Magna Cum Laude, double major.

Lauren Delayne Hicks was a Long Beach native, Spelman College graduate, cum laude and young woman who believed in education and showed up for her community.
Lauren transitioned unexpectedly in 2023 at age 25.
Her family created Lauren’s Legacy Scholarship Foundation (LLSF) to honor and to fund what Lauren believed in: young women getting the chance to pursue their education without financial barriers standing in the way.
Her story became our mission.
