Your investment during Long Beach Gives directly supports scholarships, mentorship, and career opportunities for young African American women who are striving to reach their college and career dreams. 

Lauren Hicks was a proud Long Beach native an honor student at Hughes Middle School and Long Beach Poly, and a graduate of Spelman College (cum laude). In 2023 at just 25, she passed away suddenly to undiagnosed Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) blood clot.

To honor Lauren’s incredible life as a scholar, mentor and beacon of light, her family founded Lauren’s Legacy Scholarship Foundation (LLSF). Our Mission is to empower other young women, just like Lauren with opportunity, mentorship and love.
