Hi, I’m Vali DeVries. I’ve called Long Beach home for most of my life. I grew up on Catalina Island, where community spirit is just a way of life. That stuck with me. After graduating from CSULB with a degree in journalism (and a few years as a diver on the team), I found my way into insurance. It turns out this career is the perfect blend of my love for service, problem-solving, and building real relationships.

Since joining the Rotary Club of Long Beach in 2012, I’ve had the privilege of rolling up my sleeves alongside other leaders who care deeply about this city. Whether it’s supporting literacy programs, mentoring young professionals, or helping with community service projects, Rotary gives me the chance to give back in ways that make a real difference.

Working with local youth is special, and is why I am fundraising for the 2026 Rotary Youth Leadership camp (RYLA) through Long Beach Gives. These intense camps are designed to give aspiring leaders from local Long Beach high schools the opportunity to build leadership skills they can bring back to their peers, and take forward to whatever career they choose in the future.

One RYLA scholarship costs $615, but each dollar raised helps strengthen our community.
